Who is Dr. David Beales? Dr. David Beales FRCP(UK), MRCGP, DCH, DRCOG, Dip Psych is a practising physician and previous full time general practitioner within the NHS. He specialises in mind-body medicine as clinician, educator, and researcher. His focus is on promoting the benefits of behavioural physiology in health care. He helps clients to understand NS relieve the impact of sustained stress.
When this gets locked into body-mind an over-revved state is created where signals of distress need to be interpreted and resolved. Dr. Beales is a fully accredited member of the British Association of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis and offers hypnotherapy as an effective change agent. In Cirencester he practised holistic care with a personal list from within the Phoenix Practice. He established a preventative programme for older people, using trained volunteers, called Stay Well 75 plus: www.staywell75.co.uk as well as integrating complementary practices to recover wellbeing such as meditation, acupuncture and osteopathy through the Cirencester and District Charitable Trust which he established. He became Chief Medical Officer to the Bristol Cancer Help Centre in 2000. He is passionate about mind-body medicine and works with people to restore self-regulation using mindfulness, capnography and heart rate variability. He has taught in the mind-body series at the Tavistock Clinic and the whole person medicine course to medical students at Bristol and the University of Westminster and teaches at the British School of Osteopathy and The Centre for Nutrition and Life Style Management where he is medical advisor. He continues to publish and conduct research into the behavioural effects of sustained stress and struggle states. He was joint editor of Community Care for Older People Radcliffe 1997 and contributed the chapter Science and the Holistic Approach the book The Bristol Approach 2002. Measurements using capnography to measure carbon dioxide in the out breath, heart rate variability and cortisol slope estimations will help you develop understanding of the cause of symptoms and lead you to appropriate recovery strategies.
